Submission to search engines, web site promotion

After your site is ready in terms of website optimization and search engine optimization, naturally come the next steps: submission to search engines & topic directories, web site promotion. You can do this trough a specialized Search Engine Optimization and Submission Company (which will submit your site in "X" days to "Y" search engines), or you can do it yourself. Your web site should be present on DMOZ, Google, Yahoo, Altavista, AOL, Looksmart … and the list could go on forever. Some of the Search Engines / Directories will list you for f_ree, for some you will have to pay, but in the end you should decide where do you want to be listed and how long are you willing to wait till your site is indexed by search engines. You can go to Google, for example and type free submission in the search box - a lot of sites that can help you submit your web site to different search engines for f_ree will be listed.

Follow Search Engines' Rules

The Search Engines and Directories should have a section on their sites, which tells what should be done in order to get high rankings for your site. This section is a valuable source of information about the "DO"s and "DON'T"s of Website Optimization and Search Engine Optimization and it would be wise to check if your pages meet the requirements of the search engines, before submitting your web site. Web Site Promotion

Some search engines have both paid and free inclusion options - for "f_ree" you will have to wait more. After you have built your site according to Website optimization and Search Engine Optimization rules and after you submit your URL, you must wait for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or more weeks before your web pages are indexed. "Wait" doesn't mean that you will just sit and wait - do some web site promotion!
If you want to get high rankings, you will have to use these weeks for Web Site Promotion - building traffic by linking, by taking active part in forums related to your expertise field, by writing and submitting interesting articles etc. You will find these ways of action better explained in my e-book. The Web Site Promotion phase never ends and this has to be your day-by-day activity in order to get high rankings and traffic from search engines / directories.

As a part of the web site promotion phase (which is a "phase" that never ends), you must be present in the Open Directory Project (some important search engines use their listings). Before submitting here be sure that your pages make sense for human beings (a human editor will review your site). Search engines or directories which accept only paid submission can pick up your URL from here and list it for f_ree!
